Services
In my practice, roughly 5% of the performers I see need therapy alone. Roughly 25% need mental performance training alone. The other 70% need some of each, because life doesn't stay out of your sport, and your sport doesn't stay out of your life. The slump and the sleep are the same problem. The injury and the identity are the same problem.
That's an awkward number for this field. A mental performance consultant can serve the 25%. A therapist can serve the 5%. Serving the 70% usually means two providers, two intakes, two schedules, and a gap in the middle where things fall through.
“Most performers need both. That's the entire reason I do this the way I do.”
I'm a licensed psychologist and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. Same person, same hour, no handoff. You don't have to figure out which category you're in before you call, that's my job, not yours.
You'll leave your first session with one concrete thing to practice and a working plan for where this is going.
FOr Individuals
-
Mental skills and therapy in one engagement, weighted toward whatever's actually driving the problem this month. Where most people end up.
-
Training, not healthcare. Focus, confidence, routines, competing under pressure. No diagnosis, just performance work.
-
Healthcare. Anxiety, injury, identity, perfectionism, the things that don't stay on the field. Confidential and protected.
For Coaches & Organizations
-
Confidential 1:1 work for head coaches and staff, plus department-level consultation and advocacy.
-
Workshops, staff training, referral pathways, policy.
Not sure which one you need? That's the most common way people start, and it's a reasonable place to be. Fifteen minutes on the phone, free, no obligation. If I'm not the right person, I'll tell you who is.
Where I work
In person for mental performance services - across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
Therapy by telehealth - I'm licensed in Rhode Island and Illinois and authorized through PSYPACT in 40+ states.
Massachusetts isn't currently a PSYPACT state. If you're in Massachusetts I can do mental performance work with you, but not therapy. If you are currently in Massachusetts and looking for a dual trained and licensed sport psychologist, I'll provide you with referrals whether we work together or not.
