Therapy
Healthcare. Anxiety, injury, identity, perfectionism, the things that don't stay on the field.
Some of what you're carrying isn't a mental skills problem
Not sleeping the night before you compete. An injury that took more than your body did. Not knowing who you are when you're not playing, or who you'll be when it ends. A situation with a coach or a teammate you can't talk about with anyone in the building. Holding yourself to a standard that stopped working a while ago.
I'm a licensed psychologist, so this is actual treatment, not mental skills work under a softer name. And because I work in Division I every day, you won't have to explain what two-a-days are or why you can't just take a week off.
What you tell me stays with me
I don't report to your coach, your athletic department, your school, or your team's medical staff. Nobody finds out you're here because you're here.
There are a small number of legal exceptions, all safety-related, and I'll walk you through exactly what they are before we start. You'll know the rules before you tell me anything.
If you're under 18
A parent has to consent to treatment and will be involved to some degree. I'll explain precisely how much before anyone signs anything, and what stays between us.
What I work with
Anxiety and performance anxiety · injury recovery and return-to-play · identity and transitions, including retirement from sport · perfectionism · relationships with coaches and teammates · among others
